Triton (in classical Greek: Τρίτων), in Greek mythology, is a sea god, son of Posidon and Amphitrite, usually depicted with a human head and torso and a fish tail.
Known as the king of the seas, he is the male representation of a mermaid. He is a faithful servant of his parents, acting as their messenger and serenading the waters of the sea for the chariot of Poseidon to glide safely. To do this he uses conch shells as musical instruments, thus producing a soothing music.
